The department performs tasks concerning the framework, management and monitoring of municipal and regional tasks, structure and economy.
The department has among other things the responsibility for management of the municipal and regional financial system, grant and equalization system, local taxes, VAT rebate and municipal and regional borrowing. Tasks include analysis activities, design of new laws and regulations and allocation of grants.
Furthermore the department is also responsible for tasks concerning the municipal and regional sector functions and structure, public-private collaboration, management and quality improvement, benchmarking / performance, budget and accounting systems and the municipal key indicators.
